Open up your hearts:dil khol ke
It happened in the early morning of winter, last year. I didn’t remember the date on which that happened. But that incident is still fresh in my mind. As usual I was ready on my place. I got a message from nearby airport about the arrival of that flight. That one happened without any prior information. That’s unusual; I thought. The weather was foggy and cold. But there won’t be any problem to land. I tried to find the reason for that movement. I got only information that, it’s on a mission. I felt it may be on a medical mission. Normally medical emergency flights used to operate like this. They used to carry passengers, who need urgent medical care. This may be like that. After that, I concentrated on my job.
From the first transmission onwards, the pilot showed some urgency. Like “are we no.1 to land?””any delay expected?””what about weather””request priority to land”. After all these, I have decided to make that aircraft no.1 and delaying other ones. The aircraft landed without any delay. Some ambulance rushed to the aircraft and doctors who came on that aircraft were whisked away in that.
Next the pilot put another unusual request, to allow them to keep the engine on. That’s strange. With hesitation I approved it. Though it may endanger others also. It was a calculated risk but sensing some urgency I took that decision. As I was busy on other aircraft, I could not concentrate further on that matter. Time flown away. After one hour or so, the aircraft was ready for departure. Once again he put forward another unusual request; “please intimate the destination airport not to delay the landing”. This time I was taken aback. How can we say that one to another airport? Won’t he think that, I am poking my nose into his business? The stress on the word Please, made me to do that also. He got airborne with the shortest time, after the arrival of the passengers. But no patient boarded that aircraft instead some big “box” was loaded into the aircraft with care. I didn’t want to disturb the pilot, but came to know from other sources. The question rose in my mind. What was in that “box?”. I could not find the answer for that question. But came to know about that in the next day newspaper only.
You would be surprised to know what was in that box. Before that I wish to inform about the accident, happened in my town. One small boy called “dinesh” met with an accident. In which unfortunately the doctors could not save his life. After an intensive treatment, he was declared “brain dead”. Yes.. other parts were “live”. With some hesitation, the doctors informed his sobbing parents, that if they wish, its possible to see his son in next avatar,by the way saving some lives. Making their heart tough, they agreed for that. Now you could have got the answer, yes.. that boys vital parts like heart, kidney, eyes were in that box!!! But they have to perform the operation on the donor within 1 hour. Otherwise the exercise would go futile. The operations were carried out in Chennai and 9 people were given new lives with those parts!!
(From Chennai airport to that hospital, the traffic was held for 1 hour and Police commissioner played a stellar role in this. Police should also be appreciated in this context!!)
What a great deed! We have to appreciate the parents for taking that important decision, because of which 9 lives were saved!!
If you think that great deed is over, another part is yet to come. That happened recently in salem. Now over to salem(in Tamilnadu!)
20.08.2010 .. 08:00 am
Jagadish’s mother, devaki was totally excited. Her house was decorated & ready to welcome new guest. She was giving instructions to her servant maid “hey.. don’t put more oil.. my son’s” heart” will be affected.. Don’t put much masala. .. my son’s “heart” wont like that…prepare that sweet my son’s heart will like that..
She called neighbors also for that feast. All were in an excited state.
10.00 am
Somebody gave voice that”they have come”… after hearing a car horn, she rushed to the gate. And she welcomed the guests. The main guest was one girl named abinaya… devaki welcomed her with emotions, tear filled eyes. After seeing her, abinaya also shed tears. Devaki took abinaya inside their house. In the hall, Jagadish’s photo was decorated with garlands. Abinaya performed namaskar to that great soul. Now you could have understood, what has happened. Yes. jagadish’s heart is beating inside abinaya. He is new avatar. All eyes present in that occasion became wet. Devaki kissed abinaya in the forehead and hugged her. She can feel the warmth ness of son’s heart in that. Only she can; isn’t she?
The above incidents are examples of great deeds. They happened under extraordinary circumstances. I think they should not happen with anybody. When you are reading this article, the world is celebrating the “Joy of giving week”! In this context LIC‘s advertisement comes to my mind.
“jeevan ke saath be;jeevan ke badh be;”
Can we do any thing, so that the world can remember us even in our absence? Yes. That’s eye donation. We can donate our eyes after death. With that we can see the world even after death through somebody’s eyes. The thinking itself is exciting. Isn’t it? (My self and my wife have registered in the nearby N.G.O. for the donation of eyes.) So in this week give anything to your dear and near ones and experience the joy of giving. Give it with open heart; dil se deejiye. Kushi se jeeyiye. We have to prove that, Humanity still lives; it hasn’t died. Do you agree with me?
